How to Set Up the Digg Digg Social Media Sharing Plugin for WordPress

I use the Digg Digg social media sharing plugin because it rawks, but it takes a bit of setting up. So I thought I’d make a little tutorial video to walk you through it step by step. If you can’t see the video, visit the blog directly or watch it on YouTube.

I do more than just show you the bare minimum to get it installed and running. In this video you will also get some good info about why you may want to do certain things, like allow the Digg Digg buttons to appear on your home page or manually configure them.

thnxx for this nice information, but Digg is not a strong social bookmarking website at present time.

    • http://remarkablogger.com Michael Martine

Yeah, “thnxx” for not even reading the fucking blog post, because if you did you’d know it’s not about the site called Digg at all. Great example of how not to comment.

Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering why is Digg Digg better than other plugins like Sexybookmarks for example?

    • http://remarkablogger.com Michael Martine

Sexy bookmarks is nice but you can’t see the icons fully or the count of how many times something has been clicked on.

      • http://thewordchef.com Tea Silvestre

Plus, SexyBookMarks sometimes doesn’t work at all. Not my fav.

Nicely done tutorial. I was reading one of your blog posts and admiring your scrolling social sharing buttons . . .LOL. Thanks for sharing the great details. I look forward to using this for my clients (and myself) as well. Been using Sexy Bookmarks for ages, but this is by far a much more useful plugin. Keep up the great work!

    Hi,
I haven’t used Digg Digg. I have been using Sexy Bookmarks but that has to be updated all the time. I think I will try Digg Digg with the floating display. That looks cool. Where do you learn all this stuff?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Michael,

Great tutorial, I was wondering where that plugin came from and it is free. That works for my budget:)

Just a quick question. I was looking for the the sharing plugin that has a “Feedback Tab” that floats down the side.
Do you know what plugin does that?
And which one do you recommend? Or are there downsides to the other plugin?

Thanks for any help you can give:)

Digg Digg is nice, but for some reason it stopped working on my blog. So I switched to Sexybookmarks (which also stopped working today).

I’ll give another try to digg digg. I avoid using the floating bar, because I usually zoom on the website so that they use the full width of my screen and the floating bar does not show in that case.

    • http://remarkablogger.com Michael Martine

Could be the APIs which allow some of the services to work were down or there was something unrelated to the plugins themselves if more than one plugin failed.

    nice tutorial.
i have one problem with the floating option it does not show any side bar on any of my pages. do you have any idea how to fix this ??

    • http://remarkablogger.com Michael Martine

I’m not tech support for the people who created the plugin, but check the settings for it and see if there’s a “show on pages” or something. Otherwise check the plugin maker’s website. :)

I have just noticed that there is no plugin link on my dashboard. Is this only for wordpress blog, which are uploaded using a different host, with your own website name, or do you know of a way to add the same buttons in your left side, using a kind of widget HTML code?

    • http://remarkablogger.com Michael Martine

That is correct, only self-hosted blogs can use plugins.
