If you could change one thing about your blog or your blogging that seems impossible right now, what would it be?
Looking forward to your responses!

Oh my. Just one? I think I'd go for a better sense of organization. Over the years, I've headed off on tangents — related ones, but tangents still. In the process, it has become a bit unfocused, or so it seems to me. Maybe before organization, the change would be to redefine the blog (though that may be just restating what it is).
Impossible ?
Well, I'd luv to have a fluid/organic blog design, you know, a real-time moving interface – like the one from “The Minority Report”. That will totally reflect my real life persona.
I know this will exist in the (hopefully near) future, I'm counting the days …
Thank you for asking! I would love a means for people to be able to leave Comments via writing OR voice. Blogs are great for people who love, and have the capacity, to read and write. Sometimes people who aren't as confident in their writing ability will have an opinion or feeling about something expressed – but will leave with their voice unheard rather than risk looking 'uneducated' because their spelling or syntax or whatever is weaker than everyone else on the page. (I add supportive audio clips to some of my posts for those who prefer to receive information audibly vs in writing ~ so I've got one end of the interaction covered.)
I would stop the spam…even though I have akismet it is till a nuisance to delete.
DJMorrisInc, have you considered Bad Behavior? It did wonders for me (and it's free). http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/
The Disqus commenting service/plugin is also free and lets you ban people
(which I do regularly, heh…).
I'd like to add some features to my blog, such as a web app directory and ebook/book review pages. I'm just starting out, so just getting the actual blog writing part down is first, but even when you take away that, I'm not sure how I would even go about setting up those features.
I would get rid of the trolls, as in, people who post nasty or personal insults that have no bearing on the article or provide any value at all. Thankfully, int doesn't happen often, but when it happens, it can ruin your whole day/week/etc.
I was shocked to read about the whole Kathy Sierra fiasco where she had a nice blog about customer-focused businesses and ended up getting tons of insults and death threats – to the point where she stopped blogging and called the police out of real fear. That's the sort of thing that doesn't show up as “spam” but is so much more vile and dangerous.
Amber,
Think about exploring the use of strategic color and design choices in your blog to tone people down a bit. You might come up with some things that would help.
Luke
That is an interesting idea, although really my goal is to get being inspired and ramped up, not calmed down. And I know that my opinions are strong and will therefore sometimes strong opinions. I don't censor people who strongly disagree, even using choice words, but I do mind people who spew nastiness with no value whatsoever.
I think the Kathy Sierra event most illustrates that these people will target anyone who is popular, regardless of whether that person has done anything to deserve it. Reading through her blog archives, it is very helpful, motivational advice and nothing remotely upsetting, but somehow it got that far.
I'd post more consistently, maybe even have some themed topics for days of the week to cultivate regular readership. I know I “should” be able to do this, it's just a matter of “willpower” and “making the time” and “scheduling” and “systems,” but somehow I haven't gotten it together. I know this one seemingly simple (if it's simple, why can't I Just Do It??) change would have a powerful impact on my business.
Also I have to agree with DJMorrisInc that more and more spam is getting through Akismet. Sigh.
Yes – this! I totally want to write more regularly and have theme days, for much the same reason (getting more regular readers).
What a fascinating question, Michael. I think as you've said before, my bete noire is headline writing. I often struggle to nail a headline in a sharp, sexy, reader grabbing way.
I don't think this is impossible but: I'd like to venture into posts with more multimedia. It's in our pipeline, so I'm looking forward to it.
I'd like to find that balance between blogging in a way that I enjoy and that attracts readers and blogging in a way that helps me build authority and attract clients through my blog. I want to have fun and I want to be me, but I also want to get clients through my blog. If I write in a snarky tone, for example, I'm worried this would make it harder for me to find clients. But at the same time, I know I don't want to work with uptight people. Finding that middle ground is hard.
Is more hours in a day too much to ask for? We are all extremely busy. I often find that it's difficult to maintain a blog along with a somewhat normal lifestyle. I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone with a full-time job, has a wife and kids, and likes to keep in shape. I guess you have to learn how to run off 5-6 hours of sleep.
I would automate my blog entries do that I would not have to go back in and add tags, categories, and making sure it all looks good. So, I want an auto-posting system that Really does it all.
It would be great to have an auto-posting program that actually did it all for me. No more tag, category, and how it looks editing. I hate making a post on another program and then having to “make it SEO comparable” later.
one thing is posting here:)
If I could change one thing, right now, I'd go back to the earlier days and put a more concentrated effort on product creation. I am heavy into that now, but wish I had focused more intently there from the very beginning.
It's funny how time changes your perspective, those if-I-coulda-woulda-shoulda moments.
False starts and errors are the best teachers in life.
if i think i do the wrong thing, i am sure i will change my mind and change my actions. change doesn't matter, the most important thing is that you must be assured that you have done the right thing.
I agree to few comments. Spamming on blogs is the biggest trouble i think. When somebody spam to my blog i feel that negibour kids are throwing eggs to my apartment windows and run away=)
