It's such a simple concept yet many, myself included, try to "figure" it out with hours of thought and research. Yet he hit the nail on the head, write what people want to know that will make them happy. WOW Oh and love the underwater basketweaving comment. Tough niche to say the least! We're just starting out in business so I will keep this in mind thanks for the feed. I read your post most of the time, great info and I signed up for his videos as well.

Trista, absolutely, as long as you remember that rule #1 isn't the only
"rule" there is. Rule #2: Choose a niche in which you can earn a living, and
Rule #3: choose something you can be the best in the world at.

These are what Jim Collins in *Good to Great* calls a "hedgehog concept."
All three have to overlap somewhere, or you will be either unhappy or poorly
compensated.

I like David's theory. It's general enough to apply to all kinds of blogs. Along the lines of psychology is the law of attraction, if you're intention is to help people, make them happy by sharing what you know or what you're learning, then the natural feedback loop would be happiness for the blogger as well as other gains; financial, emotional, friends, life experience. When one sets out with an intention to make the most money the fastest way, they will inevitably fail, it's the law. #1 rule still stands - Write what you're passionate about!
