Watch Me Fly through Creating my Blog Consulting Page Layout in the Headway WordPress Theme

If you can’t see the video below, please watch it on Remarkablogger.

The Headway theme for WordPress is probably the easiest time you’ll ever have designing a blog. In this video, you can watch me modify the layout of my blog consulting services page in a matter of minutes. Professional blog designers will appreciate the Headway Layout Editor because it completely slashes design times while creating valid XHTML strict code. Non-coders will appreciate it because you only need to know a modicum of HTML to create custom content boxes called “leafs” in Headway. Leafs can be dragged around, resized by dragging, and easily rearranged and configured (check out this post if you want to learn more about Headway’s features).

If I had forever-and-a-day to get shit done I could’ve coded this by hand, but why on earth would anyone want to do that? To have something that’s great for both designers and non-designers? That’s a game-changing double-win. Headway is way more than a blog theme. It’s a design environment, a blog design tool. I think people are starting to pick up on this, and that’s why the buzz around headway is building. It’s a whole new class. (A few days ago I saw a sneak peek of the next version… two words: jaw-dropping. You think I exaggerate? You’ll see. Get Headway now and snag the free upgrade when it hits.)

    Very nice.

The ease of this theme is amazing and the site here looks great!

I’m working with some new clients who have been wary of moving their Blogger blogs to WP. This is a perfect solution and it helps me to help them get the job done.

Gonna stumble and tweet this bad bear.

    Cheers!

Michael, this is great and seems easier than Thesis. Do you think I could use it without any help. Also, is there a help forum if the user runs into a problem.

Valerie, you could do a lot in Headway without any help, but if you need it, yes there is a user help forum which is very active.

I guess I’m showing what a tehno non-geek I am..is there not any WP template where you have a “clean sheet” and can drag/drop different items..

How do you know when you put in all these numbers then when you say you’re dragging stuff around..is there not a way to see pictures of what you’re doing..??

But wouldn't you have to say that Squarespace is just far and above the most user-friendly website/blog builder around? Yes, it's not wordpress. But man, it's user-friendly. You can see exactly what you're doing, they have great documentation, video guides, and quick customer response. From what I am read within the forums on Headway…support and documentation are pretty lousy and not non-coder friendly.

Depending on who you talk to, platforms (WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace)
matter a great deal or they don't matter at all. My take is to try not to
confuse user-friendliness features with platform capabilities that matter in
the long run. A self-hosted WordPress blog offers sovereignty and control,
plus an infinitely flexible and extensible platform. No other platform can
touch it for that, though they each have their own unique advantages.

We are developing video guides for Headway to create the best documentation
and tutorials possible and other changes/improvements to the support. As
with most communities, some of the best help and support comes from other
users. People are helpful to each other on the forums and also on twitter
(look for the #headwaywp hashtag). Although we'd love if there were never
any problems, in real life every premium theme has its issues. All of us in
the premium theme business are doing what we can for our customers, but
you'll find frustration on the forums of every premium theme. People have
different skill levels and expectations, and the theme's support people &
systems have their strengths and weaknesses. The response to Headway has
been big and the support load is heavier than we expected. We're very much
aware of it and working on it.
