Very nice post. I can remember back in my day emailing a blogger explaining how awesome he was and no joke he wanted to do some business and partner up. A lot of these bloggers are obsessed with themselves.

Great post for us 'newbies'.
Saying something 'stupid' comes easily to me, my blog should become very popular.
Thanks

Hi, I just stumbled on your blog when I was trying to find out ways to promote mine - as I was just getting started in the blogsphere :) - Great point about upsell. I tried the concept of up sell on a very small level in one of my digital product campaign a few months ago and it showed very promising results. Promoting or selling anything on the Internet is all about being "street smart" !!

Best regards,
-Sid

Upselling is something I`m not very good at . . . yet. :) Definitely something to work on. I`ve also used Twitter with quite a bit of success, so that`s an excellent tip.

I'm interested in learning more about using twitter to promote my sites, but I can never really find much relevant to say that doesn't sound like advertising copy.

Would people advise just tweeting about what they are doing in the way of development? Or is it literally "Hey I just had eggs and ham for lunch"?

Excellent points. I'm following you on Twitter and that's how I ended up here! You're right, twitter is about adding value to people's lives... but we can add value with our blogs, too. :)

Incidentally, people might want to check out adjix to shorten URL's on Twitter--it theoretically pays. I noticed Guy Kawasaki was using it and it's cool--lets you track how many clicks you got and so on...

It's at www.adjix.com, I think.

anyway, good blog, I joined your email list too (see, you must be good at what you do, LOL.) and will check out the rest of your content.

thanks, have a good day!

oh yeah ps. on the off-chance anyone is interested, my other blog is at www.manicmeltown.com.
