Definition of an ecotone:

An ecotone is a transition area between two adjacent ecological communities (ecosystems).

In this audio post, the two ecotones I’m concerned about are blogging and internet marketing. What you’ll hear in this audio post are my thoughts on living in the ecotone between blogging and internet marketing. Here’s something else you’ll hear: what the future of Remarkablogger holds.

    Internet marketing is a big, confusing industry filled with hype-driven sales pithces. Occasionally you do find the gems; that great ebook or software that will change the way you make money online forever!

    The difficult part is to brush aside the hype and find the ones that are really worth your time
  • Thanks for the comments, I'm glad this one resonates.

    @Betsy - It'll be a great trip. Welcome aboard. :)

    @Jay - The other day Brian Clark tweeted to me on Twitter that "We're all internet marketers." He's right. It's just that some of us are aware of it and taking steps to do better, and some of us are oblivious. Saving people from oblivion is my goal.

    @Janice - That's how new colors are made. :)

    @Jon-Mikel - Thanks for finding and focusing on the heart of the matter. The ability to do that is a gift.
  • I think the one line in here that sums it up for me is "the best marketing is always transparent and authentic". Great post, thanks!
  • Michael,
    Smiling here. Those edges, those places in between, are squishy, and rich and so fun to paint. Good analogy.
  • Michael, you raise excellent points - and ones that apply to anyone who blogs for any business. Lawyers who blog do so to increase their exposure, reputation and trust factor with the goal of getting more business. In that sense, they are also internet marketers - albeit with a different product or service than you, Yaro Starak or any other professional blogger.

    Monetization of expertise is critical, be it online or off.

    Terrific insights, and I'm sticking around for the ride.
  • Hi Michael - I really enjoyed listening to your thoughts. I've long thought that there must be a happy medium between the marketing-free purist blog zone and the high-energy internet marketer niche. It seems to be where I'd feel the most comfortable, and dovetails with permission-based referral-based concepts. So, I'm very much looking forward to traveling down this path with you. Thanks.
