Great post. I’m a real estate agent and conversions are my number one goal (along with having some fun). Thanks for the tips.

    Hey Michael,
Awesome video. The last few times I’ve been here it’s as though we are on the same wavelength – I have been looking at my design and goals and making changes! lol

I also had to sign up for your email newsletter. :-)

    I appreciate you!

    Hey Michael, great video

On this topic, the first thing that came to mind was that your theme is a really good example of a conversion-oriented design. I really like how all of your main conversion points are above the fold and right in front of the reader’s eyes as soon as the page shows up, and they are all a good size and very congruent, which makes it easier for the reader’s eyes to focus on them. Eye-tracking software shows that design like that really holds a reader’s attention. Good post!

@Ben – Yes I imagine getting leads is your number one priority.

@Dali – Thanks for the kind words and I’m glad you’ve signed up for the Remarkanotes newsletter. I hope to hear comments from you in the future about how trying these ideas is helping you.

@Conrad – Thanks man. You gotta walk the talk so people can see proof you’re to be trusted and followed. That’s a vital blog marketing lesson itself.

Hi Michael, good post. This is something we are always working on. I feel my blog doesn’t do enough to achieve my ultimate conversion goal.

I’m somewhat limited because I’m using a 2 column theme but wanted to keep a consistent layout with my company’s website.

Thanks for reminding me to put this issue back on my ever growing list.

Question: I’m currently not publishing a newsletter (just have a blog). Will Aweber let me pop up a window asking people if they would like insert conversion here when they visit my site for the first time? Or does it have to lead to a newsletter?

@John – Aweber’s tools only deal with list-building and subscribing. Once you have subscribers, you can market to them in order to convert them on something else. There are other scripts to push conversions, which would be plugins for WordPress blogs or freestanding scripts if you can work with that sort of thing. None of the ones I found in a quick search are free (though one was only $10).

Mind sharing what script you use for the pop up email opt in on your site, Michael? I’ve seen it in a few places but am not finding a good pop up. My favorite to use so far is Aweber’s lightbox. I’m not using Aweber at the moment, but maybe that’s the one. Any other recommendations?

Christian, it is Aweber. There are other scripts but you need an email list manager to “plug” them into. A search for “opt in script” or “sign up script” or “email sign up script” would probably turn something up.
