Suzi, one of the problems with WLW is plugin compatibility--<em>especially</em> with SEO plugins like All-in-One SEO pack or if you're using the <a href="http://tinyurl.com/youwantthesis" rel="nofollow">Thesis</a> theme. Long story short, if you're doing anything beyond just writing simple posts, you may not want to use desktop software. WLW is great in many ways, but I have found out the hard way that I'm better off not using it. My needs are too advanced and specialized for it.

Hi - thanks for this video.
I have just downloaded it and will start playing with it. A couple of questions though.

1) If I publish from WLW will my plugins that are on wordpress still apply - i.e. the SEO plugins I have installed?

2) I have just put adsense deluxe on my wordpress. Having got that working properly (after some time) I'd like to know the best way to use it with WLW. I downloaded a WLW plugin called adsense drop in, but I can't find any information on how you actually use it, and relate it to adsense deluxe.
Would love to hear from anyone who is using it.

Thanks,

Suzi

@Joe - Thanks very much, Joe! :) I will look into getting that manifest file correctly set up (must be the result of a manual upgrade I did a long time ago, or something--not sure what would cause that).

Michael-

WLW uses a blog-specific wlwmanifest.xml file that ships with WordPress to tell us what options to turn on. It seems to be missing from your install. If you do a View Source on your blog homepage and do a Find for wlwmanifest, you'll see that your blog is pointing here:

http://remarkablogger.com/wp-includes/wlwmanifest.xml

but that URL returns a 404. If you get that URL working, WLW should automatically pick it up and show the correct options.

@Joe - Thanks for coming by and helping out. Nice to see someone from Microsoft is keeping an eye on the conversation and who cares.

I'm not sure you're 100% correct about upgrading WordPress to or past 2.3.1, though. I'm running 2.6.2 and I have the keyword/tag capability for all my blogs <em>except</em> Remarkablogger... which happens to be running a theme that never displays tags. So if I'm missing some important piece of information, please let me know what it is, but that's what I see from where I'm standing. :)

PS - I'll give the new beta a try!

Mike Ramm--upgrading to WP 2.3.1 or later will make tags show up in WLW. But Michael is right, for security's sake it's a wise idea to upgrade to the latest and greatest.

Valerie, you'll probably have better success with our new beta. We fixed some "script error" related bugs.

http://download.live.com/writer

If that doesn't help, feel free to shoot me an e-mail at joe.cheng *AT* microsoft.com.

Thanks for the post, Michael!

Hi Michael, my copy is not working correctly, script errors. I think I'm going to uninstall it and start over.

@Valerie - Great! I think you'll find it pretty easy to use. I find myself wishing it did some of the things Word does, but it's still a great application.
