@Chris - Thanks, glad you got a good laugh out of it. I sure did! It was way too funny to be offended at being scraped.

Wow, I've seen a few examples of scrapers gone wild, but that one just takes the cake. Sometimes computers just don't seem too smart, huh? Thanks for the laughs!

[...] Scraping feeds is taking content without permission and presenting it as if it were your own, or as if you had written a post whose only real content is a large quote from another blogger’s feed. This is often the basis of splogs, which are blogs filled with stolen content, usually as a means to show Google AdSense. Although scraping is highly unethical, I have way better things to do with my time than complain about scrapers. They’re just a fact of life. Sometimes, even scrapers are funny.

Scapers are fairly useless unless you are running a site just to build empty content.

Lost me with that one. Why would I want to build a site with empty content?

Let's make sure we distinguish between aggregating and scraping. It's really the difference between means and ends. Same technology, different motivation and objectives. That difference matters to people--but I wonder if it matters to search engines.

PS - thanks for all the link love, recently. :)

Scapers are fairly useless unless you are running a site just to build empty content. I have a couple sites that use a wordpress scraping application and it pulls feeds from several locations.

I understand that this is pointless on many levels but it does serve the purpose that I need and the websites I scrape from get links back to their sites.

Scrapers typically do not allow for trackbacks to be created so there will be no traffic directed to your scraper site.
