Scapers are fairly useless unless you are running a site just to build empty content.

Lost me with that one. Why would I want to build a site with empty content?

Let’s make sure we distinguish between aggregating and scraping. It’s really the difference between means and ends. Same technology, different motivation and objectives. That difference matters to people–but I wonder if it matters to search engines.

Scapers are fairly useless unless you are running a site just to build empty content. I have a couple sites that use a wordpress scraping application and it pulls feeds from several locations.

I understand that this is pointless on many levels but it does serve the purpose that I need and the websites I scrape from get links back to their sites.

Scrapers typically do not allow for trackbacks to be created so there will be no traffic directed to your scraper site.
