Slight Update to My Comment and Trackback Policy

I’ve updated my comment/trackback policy (for which there is a link above the comment box on single post pages).

Specifically, I’ve added that I will reject your comment if the site url you provide leads to an automated blog and I determine that the blog provides no value to myself or my readers. Splogs and MFA (Made for AdSense) sites are already out, but automated sites devoid of the author’s personality or anything of value (scraped content) will not be allowed. This is the case even if your comment is not automated.

Thanks,

Michael

  • Ive never been a fan of any kind of spam. I wasnt even aware of spam blogs. Ill have to keep my eyes open.

Thanks, Mohsin. I got hit with comments today that were not automated but they didn't really contribute or add to the post at all, and the blog url was like what I describe in my addition: scraper site. A well-done scraper site, but a scraper site nonetheless.
  • Good policy. I think it's better to have less comments than to have a lot of low quality spammy comments.

I have been getting trackbacks from content scrappers lately, but most of them get caught by Akismet.
