Designing and Optimizing for Conversion

I’ve been working on Tarot Readings Today for my wife, a Tarot reader. She wants to read Tarot online, so I got her all hooked up. There aren’t many Tarot readers who read via instant messenger application, but she does, so that’s a niche to exploit. Everybody wants free Tarot readings, and searches using those keywords, so she’s going to give away free tarot readings as a way to draw in traffic and prove herself to potential clients for paid readings (she won’t pick every single one, obviously). It’s a great, classic strategy—the free sample.

I’ve made conversion a piece of cake: you fill out the form for a free reading or fill out a super-short, super-simple form to get in touch with Denise to schedule a paid reading. No hoops to jump through. Payment is through PayPal. The conversion funnels for free readings and for paid readings are very, very short and simple, just as they should be. We spent a lot of time discussing how the process should go, and she had some great ideas (you know me—I’m a nerd, and my forms were too complex, so she suggested simpler ones and I agreed because sometimes I do follow my better judgment).

There’s a big, nice button on every page, prominently displayed for people to schedule a reading. The main navigation has links for both free reading requests and for scheduling paid readings.

Anyways, go check out Tarot Readings Today and request a free tarot reading! This early on in the process, she will probably say yes, because she needs to build up examples to convince people, so this is your big chance!

Oh, by the way, she already read cards for her own site, and we already know it’s going to be successful! ;)
